So today I blew up about Ms. Ravasio being an all-around jerk and not fulfilling her duties as band director. I know she's resigning and everything but seriously.. her contract is until the 30th and she should see her duties up until there but she doesn't which makes me mad.
ALSO what makes me mad is how much she lies about everything! Most of you that read my blog may not know the stuff that's going on so i'll tell you. (she said, in angst at becca, that she doesn't care who knows that "mrs. vallera got her fired" which is bullcrap, but the fact is that she doesn't care who knows. nor do i. so here we go)
- Decides to resign on "political reasons" (political reasons being that someone is going to be band booster president that she doesn't like or get along with [bill costlow])
- Secretly goes to all the new people for next year and says "I'm quitting and I wouldn't send my kid/you there if i didn't know who the band director was goiong to be" and then tells all the rest of the world that the greenies won't do it if she's not there LIE #1
- Tells my mother and the boosters that she applied for a school in Akron for a job and got turned down. Mom goes to Mr. Rose and asks him about it and he says that he NEVER gave her a recommendation for Akron and also says that he never WOULD. LIE #2
- Now, is telling band and everyone that she got FIRED! LIE #3 NOT JUST FIRED, but fired because of mrs. vallera! LIE #4! she didn't get fired at all! she RESIGNED. and if she didn't resign, then she not only lied to the entire band, but she also lied to the boosters and to the greenies for next year. NO, wait, she DID lie because if she WAS fired then she wouldn't be at school... a "firing" is a complete cancellation of a contract and she's still there under contract until May 30. LIE #5 (AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW IT)
OOOOH!!!!! ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES ME VERY ANGRY!!!!
She had the BALLS to say something NASTY about Mrs J.!! This one thing makes me want to tear her head off regardless of anything else she did. She actually said something like she won't be able to be band director, since she can't even control a class.
Now there is some truth in that but the majority of people in her classes are assholes who don't resepct her or anything or anyone else, and they're not in the band. the band loves and respects mrs J A LOT A LOT A LOT more than the punks in her classes do. OOOOH.... NO ONE goes after Mrs. J and gets away with it. no sir not here.
And so i offer a resolution rightnow. I'm going to communicate in some way with the beast before she leaves after graduation. i'm going to tell her exactly what my mother and the boosters and a lot of people want to say to her but won't because of various reasons. I think i've been the type of person who says things tha tneeds to be said (remember practice, band peoiple? 'WATCH THE FIELD COMMANDER! SHE'S THERE FOR A REASON!!" yeah stuff like that), so i think this is where i come in.
If this is a good idea, tell me. If this is a bad idea, oh well. she's leaving and i'll never see her again (hopefully)
WHAT REALLY GETS ME IS THAT SHE LIED TO MY MOM TO HER FACE!!! AND TO THE BAND!!!!!!! AND TO ME!! i even trusted her. i trusted her til this came up. I respected her decision to leave and had no problem with it, but now that she's twisting things around to make HER look better just makes her look worse. i hope she knows it, but if not, she will soon.

I think we should ALL write her a letter because, trust me Chris, you are far from being the only person upset with the way she's been treating everyone(well, everyone but her pets). She needs to realize two things(actually alot of things, but we'll start with 2) Nobody got her fired, she got herself fired. It wasn't through anyone else but herself: her words, actions, and deeds. She needs to lay off the victim mentality.
Second, if she would grow up and act her age alot of problems would be solved. If she would take responsibility for her actions and quite blaming every little thing that goes wrong on the boosters, she'd be worthy of some sort of respect.
I think her comment about Mrs J goes a long way to demonstrate Ms Ravasio's character, excuse me, lack of. No one could ever find anything bad to say about Mrs J, even the people in out religion classes. They know how much crap that dish out to her yet she never needs to raise her voice and still never treats anyone with anything but respect and kindness.
I'm actually excited about band again, something that hasn't happend in about a year.
And for the record, I know of at least 2 more greenies who are still coming. Doesn't she realize that its not about the size of the band, its the heart we put into it?

Before I start with my rant, Id like to say that I agree with Chris and I mostly agree with what Katie said. I dont think we should write letters because Miss R, being the person that she is, would probably just throw all of the letters away without reading them. If by some chance she did read them she would deny everything. I know I should go and say something to her, but Im not very good at things like that, I like writing things, but that would be a letter and that goes back to what I said before, and, oh yeah, NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING BAD ABOUT MRS J! SHE IS A SAINT AND DESERVES RESPECT! I think the band would respect her a lot more than her classes because, for the most part, they want to be there. I am looking forward to band next year. Juniors, we have to make this coming year great and bring the fun back into band. Not just the fun but the oddness of it and the OY!

And you make some excellant points. Hiring her straight outta college was a brave move and she certainly stepped up to the challenge. WE've had some awesome shows these past 3 years and we do owe alot to her, we, the and and her, did some wonderful things together. What's really upsetting people is her attitude as of late.

i used to like her too but now just with what she's doing and all this crap just really makes me chapped.
How could anyone *yell* at you Mo and really mean it? I do agree with you, most of her early mistakes happened b/c she was inexperienced. She did do some good shows but it seemed like this year, after band camp, she didnt really care about the drills anymore. I know she was busy but sometimes we looked terrible on the field, and I know most of the crowd doesnt care or notice but it kills my Oy and I sure some other peoples. In closing, she did do some good stuff but I think most of that was used up her first year.
