Jeez elections really get my blood pressure going... Ohio is still up for grabs and it's REAL close, as all the news websites report, but I find that watching TV is better..
congratulations. may the forefathers who escaped theocracy roll in their graves should this administration go far enough to legislate religious beliefs.
Well thanks Jorgey! I really appreciate the "God lovers"^_^(really) But I do believe we have nothing to worry about in relation to turning into a theocracy. With all the checks and balances, it's next to impossible in a Representative Democracy like ours. Keep in mind that our country is on the basis of freedom OF relgion, not freedom FROM. Altough the lines can be blurry at times, I have faith that this administration will do just fine interpreting them.
the separation of church and state is exactly freedom from religion in terms of legislation.
keep that in mind religious folk. in this country noone will ever stop you from worshiping.
my fear is that it will be forced TO worship.
as far as the checks and balances, with republican majorities in all 3 branches of government it is hard to believe that the checks and balances will still be there.
all the dems can hope for is fillibuster. and i doubt the repubs will let endless fillibusters go on.
this election has eroded checks and balances. and justice rhenquist being possibly terminally ill is something to worry about.
once again pro-lifers. pro-choice means that you have a choice. if you have an abortion it is your choice.
if you are pro-life in a pro-choice society you have a choice not to have an abortion.
remember that always. us non-believers dont dissagree with you believers on anything except that things in the law should be free from religion.
the people who came here to start this country escaped religious persecution yes. but they were smart enough to not form a theocracy and to have freedom of religion so that anyone can worship as they darn well please.
