Soul food

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy there. Sorry about the massive lack of updates. I am now back at AU, sitting in my room listening to Andrew Bird, contemplating the existence of reality. Or............. wait, now I'm just contemplating where that damn cigarette smell is coming from - probably the back door. Ich.

So after I saw HBP (good movie, btw!), I went to OVACs and was an instructor - it was a great time. Also was a chaperone, which was... an interesting time. Very much friend v. foe for most of it, that oh-so-insistent (a la Andrew Bird) epic inner battle. But, I'll get it one day.

Also at OVACs, I ran into my friend Eric, of whom I got a picture with, just to be stupid... It's still on my phone, Eric, so when I figure out how to put it on my computer I'll put it up here. :) Thanks for being patient.

Then after that I went to CCHS Band camp and worked with Laura--- I mean MISS Jurasko and a one Andrew Zapor, and of course Kayla. It was like a blast from the past, and I really did feel kinda old because we were in band together only 5 years ago. Had a great time, got to write drill for Star Wars and taught a few things (dotted-eighth + sixteenth rhythms! haha). Laura and I both agreed, "teaching is fun!" and Andrew finished the percussion parts for Star Trek marching band arrangement.

OH YEAH. AU BAND CAMP HAPPENED! And let me say it was a challenging camp for sure, but also an extremely well-adjusted and affable camp, in terms of the attidude of the band as a whole. We finished pregame by Tuesday, and got 2 songs and over half of the 3rd song drilled before Friday morning. Also, we actually SOUND like a university band playing a university fight song. Many happy faces, even at the end of the week-- that means a LOT. Now the challenge for me is to keep that going the whole season, and to write down what we did so taht next year can be even better. :)

Classes start this Monday, and I'm making it a goal of mine to wake up early, go to the Rec, practice, and be at class at 11am. Since, ya know, I have class so LATE this year!! :D About friggin time. We'll see what happens.

Chris,

Glad to know the picture came out. Sorry to have been so distracted when we met at the OVAC game...we were going through our pre-game meeting and for some reason, everyone was worried I'd mess up the 10,000 kick contest. Maybe it's because when I did it last year, I'd just had back surgery and was still on anti-inflammatories and pain killers. :)

It was great to meet you.

Take care!
